Du Ruoyu was born in Tanggu District, Tianjin. He received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering and technology from Chongqing Technology and Business University in 2004, a M.S. degree in environmental engineering from Chongqing Technology and Business University in 2008, and a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Tianjin University in 2012. He has been engaged in teaching and research at the School of Environment and Resources of Chongqing Technology and Business University since July 2013.
He is mainly engaged in basic research on biomass chemical applications, and has made systematic research progress in the fields of green solvents, natural product extraction and molecular analysis, and green enzyme catalysis. Focusing on the basic issues of enzyme catalysis in green solvents, taking the quantitative method of reducing sugar, reducing sugar solubility, enzyme stabilization, and enzyme activation as the research entry point, the influence of chemical groups, polarity, hydrogen bond concentration, molecular gap, etc. of the low eutectic solvent medium on the catalytic process of cellulase was systematically studied from the perspectives of thermodynamics, kinetics, and enzyme-substrate interaction. A standard method for determining reducing sugar concentration and cellulase activity in a low eutectic solvent medium has been established. He has presided over more than 10 projects, including Chongqing Natural Science Foundation General Project, Chongqing Education Commission Science and Technology Research Project, Chongqing Technology and Business University Youth Doctor Fund Project, and enterprise commissioned projects. He has published more than 20 papers in domestic and international journals such as Sustainable Chem. Pharm., J. Mol. Liq., Chem. Eng. J., Trans. Tianjin Univ., Food Bioprod. Process., Cellulose, 食品科学, and CIESC Journal, which have been cited more than 300 times and have an H-index of 8. He has applied for 6 Chinese invention patents, of which 2 have been authorized. He serves as a reviewer for international journals such as Int. J. Biol. Macromol., Biotechnol. Biofuels, J. Food Compos. Anal., Food Biosci., Cellulose, and Rev. Environ. Sci. Bio/Technol.
